Plasma Agate Reticulated Ring

We have here a dazzling Plasma Agate, fashioned into a striking kite-shaped cabochon, resting atop a reticulated silver band.

Plasma Agate hails from Clear Creek, California, at a public access site open to anyone willing to work for this bizarre stone. It in not actually what you would call a “true agate,” and is technically a conglomerate full of chalcedony, cinnabar, jadeite, serpentine, and more. The nature of this stone’s composition makes it somewhat tricky to cut and polish, but when you do find yourself with a solid slab viable for cabbing you’ve got yourself something truly magical. The red streaks through the stone are brought to you by the mineral cinnabar, which provides quite the spectacle.
